The MultiVis Project

The MultiVis II Project is a 3 year EPSRC project in the Department of Computing Science in the University of Glasgow to investigate ways of making visualisations of data (particularly mathematical graphs and tables) accessible to those who are blind or have a visual impairment. This is done primarily through the use of haptics (or touch) and non-speech sound. The project is a follow on from a previous EPSRC project and is now specifically investigating both constructing information visualisations as well as providing fast navigation methods to really provide the same advantages to non-visual information visualisation that are present in conventional information visualisation.

This website contains information about the research work conducted in the MultiVis project. A more accessible Text Only Version of this website is also available. The website is arrannged in the following sections:

We are always interested in making contact with visually impaired people who might be willing to come in and test some things out.
